Your lessons will be

  • Personalized

Our initial session will be dedicated to assessing your current playing ability and creating a personalized plan to fit your unique needs and goals.

  • Targeted

If you've been trying to learn on your own and haven't been making the progress you had hoped for, this is where we identify and address any technical or mental hangups (ex: performance anxiety). We all have them! Being in a fun & relaxed environment makes all the difference.

  • Integrative

Whether your goal is to be able to play well with others, create your own content or jam solo with your favorite recordings, I’ll guide you toward other helpful practices to enhance your playing abilities and experience. Once you learn a tune or technique, we provide opportunities to experiment in a larger context…think open jams & concerts!

  • 30-,45-,60-, and 90-minute lessons available to fit your needs.

If you've been trying to learn on your own and haven't been making the progress you had hoped for, you may want to try our private lessons. No long-term commitment is required. You can even pay for one lesson at a time. Once you decide you love your progress, sign up for a one-time or monthly recurring package for extra savings.

  • Here at Monarch Strings Studio, private students can be playing their first song by the end of the second or third lesson and after about 4 lessons have several short, easy songs under their belt. After about 6 lessons, the student will usually be sight-reading easy sheet music fairly easily (or, if learning purely by ear, students will be playing back larger chunks of tunes). The more you practice outside of your lesson, the faster your progress will be. I promise! How fast you sound confident depends on how much time you spend in practice getting comfortable with your instrument.

  • Absolutely. Start making your list and bring it in when we meet!

  • I ask for at least 24 hours' notice of cancellation whenever possible, but I know things can occasionally come up. If you need to reschedule a private lesson, no problem! We will find a mutually agreeable time to get together when you’re ready to redeem it. The unused lesson time does not expire; it will remain as a credit for you to use at a later date. However, it does not count toward your next monthly tuition. You are free to use portions of the banked time to extend existing appointments if you prefer.

    Group classes:

Please Note: no-shows automatically forfeit that lesson time. The reason for this is as follows: when you book your lesson, your teacher reserves that spot for you all week, denying other students the opportunity to book at that time. If you don’t show up or cancel at the last minute, you are denying the teacher the ability to book another lesson during the time they were holding for you and denying other students the opportunity for a lesson. Other than this single rule, scheduling is pretty flexible.

  • The studio does not offer exchanges on services between group classes and private lessons.

Private lessons may not be exchanged for group classes. Group classes may not be exchanged for private lessons.

If you have 30 minute private lessons on account and wish to take a longer lesson, you can schedule 2 lessons back to back for a one hour lesson. If you have 45 minute lessons on account and wish to take a 30 minute lesson, this is permissible. If you have 60 minute lessons on account and wish to take 30 or 45 minute lessons, this is permissible.

If you have purchased a single group class or a single private lesson in advance, you have an infinite number of reschedules available to you, as long as it is done more than 24 hours in advance.

For a missed series/semester group class (like the Absolute Beginner Group Class), you can make it up with a discounted private lesson if you wish, or I can direct you to a comparable online learning video.
